WHAT IS CONFIRMATION?
Confirmation is the Sacrament where a person is consciously making the choice to become a contributing member of the Church. Whereas with Baptism it is often the parents' choice, this is to be a choice by the person themselves.
ALREADY IN THE PROGRAM?
If you already have your Destination: Confirmation passport in hand... Look to the side for the soft copies of the year-long calendar and Boarding passes. You can email email@example.com if you have any questions about late check-in!
INTERESTED IN JOINING THE PROGRAM?
If you are new to the page and interested in joining the our program, we'd love to have you... There's a link on the side to download and print the registration form out. Before filling it out, make sure to have contact info for you, your parents, as well as date and place of your Baptism & First Holy Communion (if you don't have one or either of them, please contact Deepu before registering). We'll need to set up a time to talk about the program - you, a parent, and I.
If you'd like to meet with Deepu and talk about the Confirmation process, feel free to contact me (info on the side) and we can set up a time!
SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Destination: Confirmation program is a new way of doing Confirmation. It's hands on, activity based. We use the classroom setting minimally and our purpose is to help you realize that being Catholic isn't just about knowing what we believe and going to Mass (although both are extremely important), but about how you live your life every moment of every day. It's more than just one hour on Sunday. Being Catholic is for all 168 hours of the week (don't worry, I checked the numbers).
Teens are able to decide how long the journey to Confirmation takes - it is dependent on how many topics are taken each quarter (it could take as little as 1.5 years, or as long as 3.5).
There are 8 topics that require two sign offs each.
Teens must complete every topic plus the other mandatory requirements (retreats, quarterly mtgs, etc.) in order to be Confirmed.
2 weekend retreats are required in order to complete the Confirmation journey. One of the retreats will be a retreat specific to your Confirmation group. There will be several different options available for your second retreat - some with our parish, some with other parishes.
Each retreat have varying costs.
The fee for the first year is $175, which includes the first retreat. The second year fee is $75. Fees are due as soon as possible, but can be made in monthly or quarterly payments as well.
HOWEVER, if you are unable to afford these fees, or cannot pay in full, WE WILL NOT TURN YOU AWAY. Although funding for the programs is extremely important, it in no way compares to your being Confirmed into the Catholic Church. We will provide partial (or if need be) full scholarships. Please do not let lack of funds be an excuse not to start the program!
Typically, teens enter our program in the 9th grade, but can be in 11th grade and still enter. If you haven't started the program and are a Senior in high school, please contact me to see what will work best for you.
Please check out the links to the side for registration forms and more information!
