The Boy's Ranch Ministry, also know as the 'Ranch Hands' is comprised of a group of men and women from St Catherine’s Church who work with young boys from the James Ranch twice a month.
The Ranch, located near Anderson Dam, is one of several Santa Clara County Juvenile detention homes for boys who are in trouble with the authorities. The Boys range in age from 12 through 18.
The major thrust of the ministry is to bring the message of the Bible to the boys. The specific areas include the Ten Commandments, the Bible, the Life of Christ, or any other area that might have an influence in introducing Christian principles into their lives. In the past, the sessions were run an informal basis at St. Catherine's Milani Center during the 8:45 am Mass on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. They attended Mass on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. Currently, we are restricted to giving presentations at the Ranch on the 1st and 3rd Sundays only. The lessons are planned on the morning before at 8:45 am.
The Ranch Hands are all members of St. Catherine’s Church, but we are looking for participation from more of our fellow Christians in town. With an increase in personnel, the ministry could function more effectively and might also expand into one-on-one visits to residents of the ranches.
